This year the 2008 Land Rover World Sheep Dog Trials, Food and Country Festival is being held in Dinefwr Park, Llandeilo.
The event runs over four days (September 11th - 14th, 2008), with 240 sheep dogs and handlers having qualified from 23 different countries around the world. Qualifying rounds for the Land Rover World Sheep Dog Trial event take place on Thursday and Friday where the sheep dogs compete for a place in Saturdays' Semi Finals. The top fifteen sheep dog and handler pairings from the semi final qualify to compete in the Land Rover World Sheep Dog Trial Grand Final on Sunday.
This family event will feature the worlds best in sheep dog handling along with many other enjoyable activities for young and old including falconry, Sheep Dog and Duck displays, Police dog, dog agility, flyball, gundog and heel-work displays! Also present will be a large amount of trade stands, promoting Welsh foods and crafts.
Two hundred and forty competitors from twenty-three different countries have already registered to compete in next year's event:
Czech Republic, South Africa, Brazil, Faroes, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Finland, Italy, Canada, France, New Zealand, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Netherlands, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and the USA!
